Critically acclaimed mezzo, Ceara Grehan is a singer of many
styles ranging from classical, musical theatre, folk and jazz.
Her classical performances range from Vivaldi, Mozart and Pergolesi
to Verdi and she has performed Cosi Fan Tutti, Tosca, & Il
Travatore with Opera Northern Ireland.
She was awarded a bursary from ONI to further her studies and
trained with Laura Sarti and one of London’s top west end
vocal coaches, Mary Hammond.
In great demand as a soloist in musical theatre, Ceara is a
regular performer with the acclaimed Lyric Opera Productions
and Festival Productions in Dublin’s National Concert Hall.
Festival Productions recent show, the Mikado, in which she played ‘Pitti
sing’; went on to win Best Overall Show at the International
Festival of Gilbert and Sullivan in Buxton in 2007.
Ceara’s love of musical theatre has seen her perform in
over 15 shows all over Ireland, including: Yum Yum Hot Mikado,
Julie Jordan Carousel, Prince Orlovsky Die Fledermaus, Valencienne
Merry Widow, Guinevere Camelot, Mrs Anna The King and I, Maria
The Sound of Music, Ado Annie Oklahoma, Tessa The Gondoliers,
Mrs Molloy Hello Dolly, Grace Annie, Pitti sing Mikado and Nellie
South Pacific.
Ceara has been nominated twice for Best Female Singer in Ireland
by the Irish Association of Musical Societies and won this title
for the role of Mrs Anna in The King and I at the Grand Opera
House in Belfast in 2003.
She is also in demand as a soloist on the concert platform and
her concert work has led her to perform throughout Ireland and
England. Ceara has become such a hit with the Belfast concert
going public that she has been invited back four times in last
two years to perform with the Ulster Orchestra, including ‘Lloyd
Webber plays Lloyd Webber’ with Julian Lloyd Webber, the
songs of George Gershwin and the ever popular Viennese concerts.
Other concert performances include Jim Molloy Production of ‘Classics
From Broadway’ in Dublin and at the Waterford International
Festival; Peter Corry’s “Masters of the Musicals” throughout
Ireland and in Birmingham; “Some Enchanted Evening” at
the Odyssey Belfast; Festival Productions “Sound Of Our
Musicals” 1 and 2 in Dublin and ‘One Voice’ with
Rebecca Storm at the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin.
She also compered and performed in the opening concert for the
re-furbished Grand Opera House in Belfast and has recently sold
out her one woman show in the Baby Grand, Grand Opera House,
and in the Ballyearl Courtyard Theatre.
Ceara also performs with the Leading Ladies who sing regularly
throughout the Province.
Future engagements include ‘The Carpenters Show’ playing
Karen and Florence, in Spotlight Productions Northern Ireland
premiere of ‘Chess’.
