General Information

• The Ireland String Quartet takes bookings for engagements (other than concerts) at Northern Ireland venues on the basis of an hourly rate. The rates for venues in certain counties in the Republic of Ireland will be subject to a minimum booking period of 3 hours. Further details are available on request.
• There is no maximum time limit.
• The quartet will travel anywhere as requested.
• For functions (corporate receptions / dining, or during the meal at weddings) of 100+ guests or in a marquee, we strongly advise the use of a P.A. system. This can be provided at the additional cost of £150.00 incl VAT (€200.00).
• For venues without a power source, a low noise generator can be supplied for an additional cost of £120.00 incl VAT (€180.00).
• If you want us to perform outside, please advise us well in advance of your function.
• In order to protect our instruments from direct sunlight or precipitation we do not perform outside without the protection of a suitable cover.
• For outdoor venues without suitable protection, a pavilion can be provided at a cost of £65.00 incl VAT (€95.00).
• Should one or more members of the quartet be unavailable, a suitably qualified substitute will be engaged to take their place.
• A written contract will be issued to you to confirm your booking.
• A deposit of £150.00 incl VAT (€200.00) is required for all bookings.
• We usually ask that the balance be paid 14 days before the date of the function.
• All bookings are taken subject to acceptance of the terms and conditions.
• All details must be finalised 14 days before the date of the function.

If ISQ is not available on any given date we will be happy to supply you with an alternative quartet and take the hassle out of the organisation by arranging everything for you. There is no additional charge to you.

If you require any other type of ensemble we can supply:

Violin & Piano
Popular classics and show tunes for 1- 2 hours. An electric piano can be provided if required.
2 Violins
Traditional Irish gigs, reels and hornpipes for 1 – 2 hours.
2 Violins & Flute
Again, some traditional Irish tunes with a bit of spice added, with the addition of a flautist.
Piano Trio: Violin, Cello &Piano
Some well known classical pieces, jazz standards and some traditional jigs reel and hornpipes from Ireland, Scotland and England. 1 – 2 hours.
String Quintet: 2 Violins, Viola Cello & Double Bass
With the addition of Gareth Hopkins, Bassist from the Ulster Orchestra we can vary the repertoire to include some of the famous pieces written for strings. See ISQ Café Orchestra
Double Bass Quartet: 2 Violins, Viola & Double Bass
This gives a different sound ‘colour’ with the depth and richness of the sound of the Bass.
Jazz Trio: Violin, Double Bass & Piano
Alan McClure and Gareth Hopkins are joined by Steve Barnett to perform well known jazz standards à la Stéphane Grappelli
